I went to the University of Northern Iowa where I majored in Computer Information Systems. As a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, I now work as a health information technology consultant, providing A-Z information technology services for small to medium sized medical offices. I have also been known to dabble in website creation from time to time, although I consider myself far from an expert in that arena.

I have been an MCSE since Nov 24, 1997 and I continue to remain certified as new products arrive on the market. I taught classes at Kaplan University for six years and it was some of the most enjoyable and rewarding time I have spent. I met a lot of new people that were more than students ... they were friends. I know a lot of them have gone on to rewarding careers in information technology and it is nice to know that I had a small part in that success.

During the summer months I am either playing softball in the local men's league a few nights a week or I am working in the garage at home.  I lift weights and run four days a week at Key West Fitness as I try to stay in the best shape I can. I also enjoy summer water sports, such as boating, jet skiing, wakeboarding and water skiing in Clear Lake, Iowa at my parent's house. We spend a lot of time at the lake on the weekends during the summer months. In the fall and winter, I enjoy playing volleyball and playing ice hockey since there isn't much else to do in wintery Iowa. I do make it a point to get to the gym as often as I can in the winter to keep from going stir crazy. I am not the kind of person who enjoys getting off work and going home to sit on the couch watching television, although I do make sure not to miss shows like NCIS and Hawaii Five-O. Benjamin and I also really enjoy watching pro wrestling and we watch Monday Night RAW and Friday Night Smackdown every week that we can. Our favorite wrestlers are CM Punk, John Cena and Zack Ryder. "Woo Woo Woo, You Know It!"

Scuba diving is a passion of mine but, living in Iowa, I don't get very many opportunities to get out on the water.  I used to scuba a lot in Florida when my friend Mike Hollen lived in Key Largo, but since he moved home I have not been diving.   I am not much into fresh water or cold water diving, so that pretty much limits me to places closer to the equator. I have been to Florida in the Miami area, the Florida Keys, Cozumel, and the jungles of Panama in my scuba diving adventures. I have seen some things that most people only get to see on the Discovery channel! Ask me about trying to do a boat check at night, surfacing among a school of hundreds of barracuda!

I try to maintain my vehicles in top form during the summer months, so you'll find me in the garage a lot.  I find it a great stress reliever to spend time keeping my vehicle running well. I've always believed that maintaining your car will pay you back more than you know. A clean well running car shows that you have pride in owning things and that's something I hope to pass on to my amazing young son, Benjamin.

I'm a newly single dad finding out that life is full of twists and turns. Having good friends and family to lean on is priceless. Never be afraid to invest in friendships because it will always pay you back when you choose the right people. Benjamin, I love you, buddy!
